Georgia Cassidy's goal with 3:26 to play broke a scoreless tie and gave the Darien field hockey team a 1-0 victory over Wilton in the FCIAC championship game Friday in Norwalk.

The second-seeded Warriors are now 17-2, with both losses coming to Darien. The Blue Wave also beat Wilton, 2-0, during the regular season.

Top-seed Darien improved to 17-1-1 and remained unbeaten against state teams this season.

Wilton goalie Lizette Roman-Johnston finished with five saves.

The Warriors will now compete in the Class M state tournament, which begins next week. Wilton is the two-time reigning Class M champion.
