After getting a scare from Wilton in the third quarter, the Darien High football team regrouped and then regained control, pulling away for a 40-14 win over the Warriors on Saturday afternoon in Darien.

It was the fourth straight loss for Wilton, which fell to 3-5.

Darien (7-1) opened a 20-0 halftime lead and seemed well on its way to a comfortable victory. But the Warriors got a one-yard touchdown run from John D'Elisa and a 61-yard scoring pass from Brett Philips to Paul Sorbo to close within 20-14.

Darien then took control of the game again, reeling off 20 more unanswered points to record its fifth straight triumph.
