Danbury downs Wilton baseball team, 3-0

The Wilton High baseball team's slim hopes of qualifying for the FCIAC playoffs were extinguished with a 3-0 loss to Danbury in the regular-season finale Friday in Danbury.

It was the second straight shutout loss for the Warriors (10-10, 9-9 FCIAC), who will now await the start of the state tournament. Wilton was coming off a 3-0 setback to Ridgefield on Wednesday.

Danbury pitcher Corey Brosz held Wilton to three hits in a complete-game effort. Brosz walked one and struck out eight.

James Meany supplied two of Wilton's three hits off Brosz.

The Hatters scored the game's only runs in the top of the third inning. Brosz provided the big hit with a two-run double.

Trevor Blond pitched well for Wilton, allowing six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Despite the victory, Danbury (12-8, 10-8 FCIAC) also failed to earn a spot in the eight-team conference playoffs.
