All that stood between the Wilton High girls cross country team and the New England championship was four points.

The Warriors had 225 points to finish four points behind sixth-place E.O. Smith (221 points) at the State Open meet on Friday at Wickham Park in East Hartford. The top-six teams qualify for the New England championship.

Sarah Healy led Wilton with an 11th-place overall finish in a time of 19:23 for the 3.1-mile race.

Mary Lynch (21st), Olivia Bernardini (57th), Larkin Brown (110th), and Keiley Gaston (118th) also contributed to Wilton's team score.

Although the Wilton boys team did not qualify for the Open, junior Spencer Brown did compete as an individual — and one of the top ones, at that.

Bouncing back from supbar performances at the FCIAC and Class L meets, Brown finished fifth overall at the Open in a time of 16:17.
