Morgan McCormick capped off a dominating two-year reign in Connecticut on Friday, as the Wilton senior won the State Open for the second straight year at Wickham Park in Manchester.

McCormick swept all three post-season meets — the FCIAC, Class L and State Open championships — for the second year in a row.

On Friday, she completed the 5K course in a time of 18:23, beating runner-up Katherine Wiser of Pomperaug by 19 seconds. She came in more than a minute ahead of the third-place finisher.

Next up are the New England championships on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast, Maine.

The Wilton girls team finished 11th in the team standings, but had the fifth-best team time.

Sophomore Paula Perez Pelaez was Wilton’s second finisher, placing 78th overall in a time of 21:39. She was followed by juniors Emily Welch (96th, 21:56) and Eliza Snyder (103rd, 22:06), while freshman Claire Kedzierski had another strong race to finish 113th in 22:15.

Rounding out the Wilton top seven were senior Erin Sweeney (160th, 24:10) and junior Carly Sullivan (170th, 25:29).

Glastonbury won the State Open team title, with the next five finishers — Danbury, Pomperaug, Guilford, Haddam-Killingworth and Trumbull — also qualifying for New Englands.
