Boys swimming: Wilton seventh at FCIACs

The Wilton High boys swimming team began the post-season by finishing seventh at the FCIAC championship meet Thursday at Greenwich High School.

The Warriors had 145 points to slot between sixth-place Norwalk (171) and eighth-place Westhill (108).

Derek Benison had Wilton's best finish, as he was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.49.

Also making finals (top eight) were Ryan Robb in the 100 freestyle (eighth, 50.26) and Will Suchy in the 500 freestyle (eighth, 5:03.67).

Robb also placed ninth in the 50 freestyle, while Suchy was 12th in the 200 freestyle.

Jack Lewis won two consolation heats to finish ninth in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke, and Harrison McCool was 13th in the 500 free.

Wilton’s best finish in the relays was in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with a sixth-place effort by Robb, Lewis, Benison and Suchy.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of McCool, Lewis, Christian Larsen and Benison was seventh.

In the 400 free relay, the team of Robb, McCool, Charlie Owens and Suchy was eighth.

In the one-meter diving, Liam Ryan was 20th.

Greenwich won the FCIAC title for the 44th time in 45 years.
