The Wilton High boys golf team traveled to EG Brennan Golf Course in Stamford to face the Stamford Black Knights on Tuesday, kicking off their initial 2018 FCIAC contest.

The Warriors prevailed by 10 shots, 195 to 205. The scoring, however, in typical early Connecticut spring weather — 40 degrees and 20 mph winds — was disappointing to each of the Wilton players.

“First match, little opportunity to practice due to a difficult, snow-laden preseason,” commented coach Jack Majesky, explaining the high scores.

He said a “truer measuring opportunity” for the Warriors will come on Thursday at Trinity Catholic.

Sophomore Robert Hickey led the Warriors in scoring as team members found their returns in the high 40’s.

“We are much better than that,” said the coach.
