Despite a 67-48 win at Fairfield Ludlowe on Wednesday night, the Wilton High boy basketball team will miss out on this year’s FCIAC playoffs.

The Warriors needed Trumbull to lose to Danbury to claim the final playoff berth, but the Eagles pulled out a 53-50 win later in the evening.

The Warriors (12-8 overall; 9-7 FCIAC) will sit out until March 6 when the Division II state playoffs begin.

In the win over Ludlowe, the Warriors trailed 8-5 early but reeled off 11 straight points to lead 16-8 after one.

Wilton seemed on its way to blowing the game wide open early in the second quarter, up 23-10, but went cold and only led by 23-13 at the half, despite the fact that the Falcons were only 1-for-11 from the floor in the period.

Wilton opened the third quarter with a 17-4 run and coasted to victory from there.

The Warriors got points from 12 different players, led by Antonio Brancato with 16 points. Kyle Phillips drained three 3-pointers and finished with nine points and Kyle Maatallah dropped in eight points.

Kyle Shifrin had three points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Nick Kronenberg (6 points) and Robbie Hermann (4 points) each had four rebounds.

The Falcons were led by Justin Schiller with eight point.
