Black goes distance as Wilton tops Weston

Making his first varsity start, Billy Black pitched a complete game, leading the Wilton High baseball team to a 5-2 non-conference victory over Weston on Friday afternoon in Wilton.

Black allowed seven hits, walked none and struck out six. Weston's two runs were unearned.

Jack Dooley's RBI single in the top of the third inning gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Glenn O'Brien then produced Wilton's next two runs with a pair of RBI singles, one in the fourth inning and one in the fifth inning.

A one-out infield error with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning accounted for Weston's two runs and trimmed Wilton's lead to 3-2.

But three walks, Brennen Ryan's RBI single and a Weston error got the two runs back for the Warriors in the top of the seventh. Black then kept Weston scoreless in the bottom of the inning to close out the game and keep Wilton (3-0) unbeaten so far this season.
