Behind O'Brien, Wilton shuts out McMahon

One tried and true way to end a baseball losing streak? Get a dominating performance from a starting pitcher.

The Wilton High baseball team got just that from Glenn O'Brien on Monday night at home against Brien McMahon. O'Brien threw a three-hit shutout as the Warriors blanked McMahon, 5-0, to snap a three-game slide. O'Brien (2-2) walked one batter and struck out three in his complete-game effort.

Wilton, which was limited to six hits, received a pair of two-out, two-run singles from Matt D'Elisa and Dillon Lifrieri.

That was plenty of support for O'Brien, who shut down the Senators and helped Wilton raise its record to 8-7 overall and 5-6 in the FCIAC.

Starting pitcher Andrew Matthews took the loss for McMahon, which is now 9-7 overall and 6-7 in the FCIAC.

Notes: Wilton is back in action tomorrow at home against Trumbull at 5 p.m.
