Billy Black turned in his second dominating performance of the young season, pitching the Wilton High baseball team to a 5-1 over Staples on Monday at home.

The senior ace threw a complete-game five-hitter, striking out 13 and walking one. Coming off a complete-game shutout in the season opener, he improved to 2-0 and has allowed only one run and eight hits in 14 innings.

The Warriors improved to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the FCIAC.

Wilton’s big inning came in the bottom of the fifth when the Warriors scored three times, highlighted by Jack Dooley’s two-run single and Jack DiNanno’s RBI single.

Black carried a shutout into the seventh, when doubles by Matt Brown and John Backus brought in the Wreckers’ only run.

In the sixth, Staples had loaded the bases with no outs, but Black bore down and struck out the next three batters to escape the jam.

George Goldstein took the loss for Staples, which dropped to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the FCIAC.
