Frank Bensel shot a four-under par 66 on Wednesday to win the 80th Connecticut Open Championship by two strokes at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton. Bensel began the third and final round one stroke behind David Pastore of Greenwich but birdied the first two holes to move into a tie for the lead. After again dropping to one stroke back of Pastore by the 15th hole, Bensel reeled off three straight birdies on holes 15, 16 and 17 to take a two-stroke lead, which turned out to be his winning margin. Bensel ended the tournament with a seven-under par 203 total, posting rounds of 70, 67 and 66. Mike Ballo, the first-round leader, shot a three-under 67 on Wednesday to finish second to Bensel with a three-day total of 205.
