Scottie Scheffler, the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year, has committed to compete in the 2023 Travelers Championship at the TCP River Highlands, marking his fourth straight tournament appearance in Cromwell.
“It’s exciting to welcome Scottie back to the Travelers Championship, coming off such an amazing season that’s carried into this year,” Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube said in a release. “The fans can expect to continue to see top players like Scottie joining our field in the weeks to come.”
Last season, Scheffler achieved four wins, four runner-up finishes and 11 top-10 performances. He had a three-stroke win at the Masters, Scheffler's first major championship, and defended his title at the WM Phoenix Open earlier this month.
Scheffler is the first player in history to win the Korn Ferry Player of the Year (2019), PGA Rookie of the Year (2020) and the PGA Tour Player of the Year.
He will compete against the defending Travelers Champion Xander Schauffele who also committed to play in the tournament last week.
World No. 3 Rory McIlroy has also committed. Scheffler is No. 2, Schauffele is No. 6.
“Scottie is a great player and an even better person, it’s been great seeing him have so much success,” said Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Travelers. “I’m excited that Scottie will be joining us as we build the best field that this event and our fans have ever seen.”
