The Brien McMahon Senators got out to an early lead on their way to defeating the Wilton High softball team, 10-3, on Wednesday in Norwalk.

The loss drops Wilton’s record to 2-1o.

Coming off Monday’s error-plagued loss to Norwalk, the Warriors played a better all-around game on defense, but it wasn’t enough to earn the win. The Senators plated one run in the bottom of the first and put six runs on the board in the fourth for a 7-0 lead after four.

The Warriors scored all their runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-3, but couldn’t generate any more offense.

McMahon scored three more runs in the bottom half of the inning to close out the scoring.

Freshman Julia Schiavone went 2-for-2 for Wilton, with a double and a single. Schiavone also reached base after being hit by a pitch. Lizette Roman-Johnston was 2-for-4, with a double off the fence. Schiavone also turned in a solid game in the outfield.

Daria Acosta-Rua pitched a complete game for Wilton and suffered the loss.

Sam Bardos went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs for the Senators Alayne Martinez pitched the first five innings for McMahon and Ryan Lajoie finished the game.
