Wilton’s Scott Cunningham scored a career-high 35 points to help lead the Colorado College men’s basketball team to a 72-59 win over Austin College on Feb. 13.
And that wasn’t even his biggest highlight of the past two weeks.
Cunningham nailed a 3-point shot at the buzzer to give the Tigers a dramatic 75-74 victory against Texas Lutheran University on Feb. 6.
It was actually his second buzzer-beater of the game, as he closed the first half with another 3-point bucket as time expired.
Cunningham, who leads the Tigers in scoring this season, finished that game with 22 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Texas Lutheran had taken a 74-72 lead on a jump shot by Jamir Mason with 2.3 seconds remaining.
After a timeout by each team, Colorado College’s Charlie Rounaghi for an inbounds pass to Jack McRoskey near center court.
McRoskey quickly got the ball to Cunningham, who pulled up for a 25-point shot and drained it for the win.
In the game against Austin College, Cunningham was 12-of-21 from the field and 11-of-12 on free throws to get his 35 points, a season-high for the Tigers.
Cunningham leads the Tigers with a 14.6 points per game average this year, and has bumped that number up to 18 over the past 13 games.
Colorado College finished the season with an 8-17 record.
