Amy Bevilacqua of Wilton came within two minutes of defending her title at the Aquaphor New York City Triathlon on Sunday.
Bevilacqua, 40, had a time of 2:03.49 to finish second in the women's division to Jenna Parker, 29, of Santa Monica, Calif. Parker's winning time was 2:01.50.
Parker was 19th and Bevilacqua 23rd in the overall standings.
The event included a 1,500-meter swim in the Hudson River, a 40-kilometer bike ride on the West Side Highway, and a 10-kilometer run in Central Park.
Bevilacqua won the women's division and was 25th overall last year with a time of 2:00.04. Parker (2:00.57) was third in 2012.
Jordan Jones, 32, of Golden, Col., defended his overall title on Sunday, placing first in 1:49.05.
