For the first time since 2004, the Wilton High boys and girls lacrosse teams will both have a chance to end the season as state champions on Saturday.

The WHS boys team will continue its underdog run when it meets second-seed Joel Barlow-Redding in the Class M finals at 11 a.m. at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk.

The 17th-seeded Warriors (12-9) were just 8-8 during the regular season but have beaten 16th-seed North Haven, top-seed Avon, ninth-seed Darien, and fifth-seed New Fairfield to reach the Class M title game.

Seeded sixth, the WHS girls team will face top-seed New Canaan in the Class M championship game at 3 p.m. (changed from 2 p.m.) on Saturday at Bunnell High School in Stratford.

The two teams also met in last year's Class M finals, with New Canaan winning, 17-9.

The Warriors (15-5) lost to New Canaan, 17-11, during a regular-season game April 6 at New Canaan.
