Junior quarterback Brett Phillips threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Wilton High football team routed Bassick, 31-8, Saturday morning at Memorial Stadium.

The Warriors are now 2-1, while Bassick fell to 0-3.

Phillips' one-yard touchdown run gave the Warriors a 7-0 lead after the first quarter. He then threw touchdown passes to Mike Burns (eight yards) and Zack Laurinaitis (41 yards) in the second quarter to make it 21-0.

Ben Rappaport's 32-yard field goal right at the end of the second quarter pushed Wilton's lead to 24-0 at halftime.

Bassick scored its only touchdown, and converted the two-point conversion, to make the score 31-8 late in the third quarter.

But Wilton responded on its next drive, with Phillips hitting Laurinaitis for an 11-yard touchdown pass to close the scoring early in the fourth quarter.

Wilton turned the ball over on three fumbles, but also made three interceptions (Weston Wilbur, Jack Dexter, Laurinaitis).

The Warriors also did not punt in the game.
