Wilton field hockey clinic will feature Jamie Dwyer, world's top player

Jamie Dwyer, touted as the best field hockey player in the world, will be giving a two-day clinic this weekend at Wilton High School.

The clinic, run by Excel Field Hockey, is for high school players and middle school players. In addition, there will be clinic for coaches held, to be held at Wilton Sports & Fitness.

Dwyer, a member of the Australian Men’s National Team, is a five-time World Player of the Year and four-time Olympian. In the 2004 Olympics in Athens, he scored the winning goal in the finals to give Australia the gold medal.

The clinic for players in grades 9-12 will be held Saturday and Sunday from 9 to noon. The clinic for grades 6-8 will follow on both days from 1 to 4.

The cost is $150 for two days and $80 for one day.

Players and fans will have the chance to ‘meet and greet’ Dwyer from noon to 1 on Saturday and Sunday.

The two-day clinic for coaches will be held on Friday and Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $150 for two days and $100 for one day.

The clinics are being hosted by the Wilton Field Hockey Association and Wilton Off-Season Field Hockey Association.
