The Wilton High boys lacrosse team may not be accustomed to having to play state tournament qualifying-round games.

The Warriors, however, are used to winning state tournament games, and that's precisely what they did Friday afternoon in North Haven.

Wilton, the 17th-seed, took control early and stormed to a 16-7 victory over the 16th-seeded Indians. With the win, the Warriors (9-9) advanced to a first-round game Wednesday on the road against unbeaten top-seed Avon (17-0).

Wilton led 5-2 after one quarter and 10-4 at halftime over North Haven (8-9).

Brendan Devane scored four goals and Mike Burns and Ryan Brameier added three goals each for the Warriors.

Eric Noonan had two goals, while Henry Lee, Dan Baird, Luke Reyes-Guerra-Dunn and Hudson McClintock all contributed one goal.

Wilton goalie Conor Johnson finished with eight saves.
