In a game featuring two teams looking for their first win of the season, the Wilton High softball team defeated Bridgeport Central, 14-2, in six innings Wednesday afternoon.

The Warriors are now 1-5  while Central fell to 0-7.

The Warriors scored runs in the first three innings, with three in the first, six in the second, and a single run in the third. Wilton added one more in the fifth and closed the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Central picked up its two runs in the fifth inning.

Lizette Roman-Johnston got things going for Wilton with a double in the first inning that plated two runs. Roman-Johnston led the Warriors with four hits.

Nicole Amato had three hits and scored three runs, while Dani Miskinis, Ally Rauccio and Daria Acosta-Rue collected two hits apiece.

Miskinis was on the mound for Wilton and picked up the win. She recorded the first six outs of the game via strikeouts and had  nine strikeouts for the game. Miskinis allowed four hits and walked three.

"The girls are staying positive, giving me a good effort, and learning more and more each day," said Wilton head coach Mark Salottolo. "We’re a young team, so we have been going through some growing pains."
