Less than a month after winning the Connecticut Junior Amateur golf championship, Andrew Sciarretta impressed again at another prestigious event.

Sciarretta, a Wilton resident who will be a senior at Fairfield Prep this fall, tied two other players for sixth place at the Northern Junior Championship in Hamden. He was the top finisher from Connecticut at the tournament, which took place at the New Haven Country Country Club.

Sciarretta finished the two-day event with a three-over par 143 total score, placing three shots behind Connor Daly of Bronxville (N.Y.), who won the tournament with an even-par 140.

After shooting a two-over par 72 in the opening round on Monday, Sciarretta finished with a one-over 71 in the second and final round on Tuesday. Highlighting Sciarretta's second round was an eagle three on the 507-yard, par-five 10th hole.

In addition to the eagle, Sciarretta had three birdies over the two rounds.

Tim Umphrey of Northborough, Mass., and Christian Cavaliere of Katonah, N.Y., tied for second place behind Daly with matching 141 scores. Alex Jamieson (Duxbury, Mass.) and Will Frodigh (Westwood, Mass.) tied for third place with 142s.

Tying Sciarretta for sixth place were Jimmy Hervol (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Samuel Goldenring (Florham Park, N.J.).

Three Connecticut golfers — Justin Clark of New Canaan, Ramsey Kong of North Haven and Matthew Stafford of West Suffield — were part of a four-way tie for ninth place with total scores of 144.

Notes: Eighty-five golfers competed for the boys championship.

Alissa Yang of Norcross, GA, won the girls championship with a two-day total of 145. She finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Jennifer Kim of South Yarmouth, Mass.

Sciarretta defeated Norwalk's Connor O'Brien, 2 and 1, in the title match at the Connecticut Junior Amateur last month in Watertown.
