Milford edges Wilton Junior Legion team in state division semis

A two-out walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Milford Junior American Legion baseball team a 4-3 win over Wilton in the Southern Division state semifinals Wednesday in Bethel.

Wilton, the eighth seed in the Southern Division, finished the season with a 20-11 record after going 3-1 in the state tournament.

Trailing 3-2 in Wednesday's game, Wilton got the tying run in the top of the seventh against Milford. Collin Kahal reached base on an error and later scored on another error on Glenn O'Brien's groundball.

But with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Milford loaded the bases on two hit batters and a walk before scoring the winning run on another walk.

Wilton's other two runs came in the fourth. With Matt D'Elisa (single) and Ryan Osgood (hit by pitch) on base, an errant throw on Zach Adams' bunt allowed both runners to score.
