Field hockey: Warriors rally, advance to state finals
The Wilton High field hockey team rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat Avon 2-1 in the Class M state semifinals on Wednesday at Cheshire High School.
The top-seeded Warriors (20-1) advanced to the state championship game for the second year in a row. The defending champs will play tenth-seeded Guilford on Saturday at noon at Wethersfield High School.
In Wednesday's win, Wilton trailed at halftime for the first time all season, but got goals from Emmie Arrix and Joanne Nazareth early in the second half to eke out the win.
Megan Ward and Valentina Tudisco had assists for Wilton.
