FCIAC playoffs put on hold
With all of the FCIAC’s member schools dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the league’s fall post-season schedule has been put on hold.
The continuation of the FCIAC field hockey, soccer, volleyball, and girls swimming and diving tournaments will be discussed at a meeting of conference board members tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct. 31).
Two Wilton High teams are involved in the conference tournaments, with the boys soccer team and the field hockey team in the semifinals.
The CIAC state tournaments are scheduled to begin early next week, leaving the FCIAC until Sunday to complete its playoffs.
The CIAC board will be meeting Wednesday morning to discuss the effects of the storm on Connecticut’s school systems and their athletic programs.
The FCIAC will also discuss how to proceed with the football season, as this weekend’s games are in jeopardy.
One possibility would be moving this week’s games to the weekend of Nov. 16-17, although that would create a conflict with the FCIAC final, which is scheduled for Nov. 16 at Trumbull High School.
