Cross country: WHS girls fourth, boys seventh at FCIACs
Spencer Brown’s third-place finish in the boys race provided the highlight for the Wilton High cross country teams at Thursday’s FCIAC championships.
Brown, a sophomore, finished the 5K course at Waveny Park in New Canaan in a time of 15:58.
The WHS boys were seventh, while the Wilton girls finished fourth.
Following Brown for the Wilton boys were Matt Caswell (31st, 17:13), Owen Mellin (47th, 17:38), Spencer Taylor (56th, 17:53), Tristin Haas (73rd, 18:21), Kristian Langholm (75th, 18:25), David Hernandez (85th, 18:37) and Derek Stang (99th, 19:09).
Sarah Healy led the Wilton girls, placing 15th in a time of 15:29 for the 4K course. She was followed by Mary Lynch (17th, 15:36), Alex Fiesel (23rd, 15:43), Maddie Murphy (24th, 15:44), Alosha Southern (38th, 16:12), Keiley Gaston (41st, 16:21), Cailey Troller 71st, 17:10) and Corrigan Serpa (80th, 17:35).
Ridgefield won the girls title with 55 points, followed by Darien (94), Danbury (112), Wilton (117) and Fairfield Warde (120) in the top five. Cate Allen of Warde won the girls race in a time of 14:20.
Danbury was the boys champ with 53 points. Henry Wynne of Staples won the race in a time of 15:23.
