Boys soccer: Danbury upends Wilton
The Danbury Hatters boys soccer team came into Wilton on Senior Night needing a win to keep its FCIAC playoff hopes alive.
The visitors got the job done.
Danbury got on top of the Warriors early and made it stick for a 2-0 victory over the hosts Monday night.
Wilton (11-3-1) has already qualified for post-season FCIAC play, but tonight’s loss dropped the Warriors to fourth place in the conference overall standings. Wilton can clinch a top-four spot, and a home game in the quarterfinals, by beating Bridgeport Central in the regular-season finale.
Danbury took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 10th minute of play and then added a second score in the 11th minute. Danbury's defense held strong the rest of the game to earn the shutout win.
Zachary Haas started in net for the Warriors and allowed the first goal. He was replaced by Peter Como, who allowed in the second score. The Wilton goalies were credited with five saves in the game.
