All-FCIAC honors for Wilton High athletes

The only Wilton High team to win a conference championship this spring was well represented in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference’s end-of-season honors.

Nine members of the Wilton High baseball team, which defeated Staples, 1-0, in eight innings, to win the conference title have received All-FCIAC honors for the 2015 season.

Pitcher J.T. Morin, who threw two complete-game victories in the conference playoffs, including the victory in the finals, was the only Warrior named to the All-FCIAC first team.

Fellow pitcher Jackson Ward, catcher Alex Jacobson and outfielders James Meany and Scott Shouvlin were selected to the All-FCIAC East squad.

Receiving honorable mention were infielders Dillon Lifrieri, Harry Sabo and Collin Kahal and outfielder Paul Sorbo.

A total of 11 Wilton High lacrosse players received All-FCIAC recognition.

Seven of the selections came from the Wilton girls lacrosse team, which lost in the Class L state finals to Darien. Sara Dickinson (attack), Makenna Pearsall (midfield), Laine Parsons (midfield), Cecily Freliech (defense), and Casey Tucker (defense) all were named to the All-FCIAC first team. Rebecca Wistreich and Melissa Boehme received honorable mention.

The Wilton boys lacrosse team had four players earn recognition. Midfielder Harrison Bardwell made the All-FCIAC second team, while goalie Jameson Hill, midfielder Michael Lynch and attackman Christian Hansson received honorable mention.

Outfielder Nicole Amato and catcher Eliza Ward received All-FCIAC honorable mention in softball.

In girls tennis, Wilton’s Maddie Stow was named to the All-FCIAC singles team, while Taylor Ingerman and Kaitlyn Zheng were chosen to the All-FCIAC doubles first team.

Bridget Cott and Ally Shay were selected to the All-FCIAC East doubles squad, and singles player Sara Steinberg received honorable mention.

Four members of the Wilton boys tennis team received honors. Jordan Lord and Ryan Black made the All-FCIAC doubles first team, while Nick Fiol and Ryan Walsh received honorable mention in doubles.

Kyle Jonas and Richie Williams were both named to the All-FCIAC East boys golf team, and NoraNoel Nolan received honorable mention in girls golf.

Mary Lynch made the All-FCIAC girls outdoor track and field first team, while Spencer Brown made the All-FCIAC boys outdoor track and field first team and Aaron Breene made the second team.

Notes: The All-FCIAC boys and girls track teams were selected based on results at the conference championship meets.

The other All-FCIAC spring sports teams were chosen via voting by coaches.
