Ambler Farm's Adventures at the Farm is not the average summer camp. This program gives children from preschool through seventh grade the opportunity to immerse themselves in farm life first-hand. By working in the Ambler Farm garden, they will develop an appreciation for where their food comes from, learn about growing vegetables, and taste just-picked tomatoes, green beans, berries and other produce. Campers will also have the chance to help feed and care for the farm's menagerie of animals, which includes sheep, goats, chickens and, new this year, baby geese. The activities will change each week, and will also include woodworking, hayrides, cooking, crafts and other farm-related projects. Students will be divided by age group and be involved in age-appropriate activities. Kevin Meehan, Ambler Farm's program director, and long-time Cider Mill science teacher, oversees the program. The preschool summer program is open to children ages 4-5 and starts the week of June 20 and ends with the week of Aug. 8. The program for students entering grades 1-7 begins the week of June 27 and ends with the week Aug. 8. Children can attend as many weeks as desired. Registration forms are at amblerfarm.org/summer/. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
