Nursing agency honors its volunteers

[metaslider id=49618]Three Wiltonians were among the volunteers honored recently by Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County at an awards ceremony and luncheon at Bernard’s Inn at Ridgefield. Six individuals were singled out and received special recognition for their outstanding commitment, compassion and dedication to volunteer service. Nancy Perez of Wilton received an award for her volunteer work on the agency’s board of directors; Elfriede Yoder of Wilton received an award for her volunteer work at the Turnover Shop of Wilton; Rachel Stanzione of Wilton received an award for her volunteer work as a hospice patient support volunteer; Ralph Behlok of Bridgeport received an award for his work as an office support volunteer; and Carol Sikora of Norwalk received an award for her volunteer work at the New Canaan Thrift Shop.Phyllis Osterman of Stamford received the Agency’s highest honor — The Carol B. Bauer Community Spirit Award — for her outstanding volunteer service as a hospice volunteer.“This award was established in honor of Carol Bauer of Wilton, whose spirit of support and devotion to volunteerism is unmatched in the community,” said agency President and CEO, Sharon Bradley.“The Carol B. Bauer Award is presented each year to that special individual who embodies the ideals of volunteerism. In the three years that she has volunteered with our agency, Phyllis has demonstrated a deep commitment to helping people at the most vulnerable time in their lives. She visits with patients in their homes and she listens with an open heart.
