The Wilton Arts Council will hold its 18th annual photography show, Focus ’16, from March 5 through April 1, at Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road. Photographers of all ages are encouraged to participate. A reception, at which prize winners will be announced, will be held on Friday, March 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the library. The public is invited. Photographs will be judged in three categories: adult (professional and amateur combined), high school students and youth photographers. The youth division, for students through eighth grade, was created in 2006 in memory of Lenwood W. Freas, a former vice president and active member of the Wilton Arts Council, to foster interest in photography among young people. Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded for Best of Show, which is open to all; first through fifth places in the adult division; and first through third place in the high school and youth divisions. Ribbons will be presented for honorable mention in each of the divisions. Judges are professional photographer Daryl Hawk, former photojournalist Debbi Morello, and photojournalist Larry Untermeyer. Should the number of photos submitted exceed the exhibit space, one or more judges may screen the photographs prior to hanging to choose those that will be exhibited. Photos may be dropped off at the Wilton Library on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 11 to 4, and on Sunday, Feb. 28, from 1:30 to 4. Photographers are allowed to submit up to two photos. For each photo entered, the fee is $5 for youths, $10 for high school students and Wilton Arts Council members, and $20 for non-members. Photographers may join the Wilton Arts Council at the time of drop-off. Membership is $35 for family membership, $25 for individual membership, and $10 for seniors and students. Sponsors for Focus ’15 are Alice Snyder Real Estate in Wilton, Beardsley Traveling Art Framer in Wilton, Milford Photo in Milford, Photographic Solutions LLC in Norwalk, and Rockwell Art & Framing in Wilton, Westport, Fairfield, New Canaan, Ridgefield and Stamford.
