The Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra will conclude its current season with two concert performances next weekend. Among those performing will be five Wilton student musicians: Johnny Shiller on cello, Jason Garrelick on trombone, Fiona O’Halloran on trumpet, and Krithika Natarajan and Vignesh Subramanian on violin.

The Wind Ensemble will perform with the WCYO String Ensemble on Saturday, June 4, at 4, at the Scotts Ridge Middle School auditorium in Ridgefield. The program includes arrangements from film scores, including Allegretto from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, which was featured in The King’s Speech, and a full symphonic band performance of Pinball Wizard from The Who’s Tommy. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for seniors and children under 18, and can be purchased at the door.

On Sunday, June 5, at 4 p.m., the WCYO Symphony Orchestra will perform in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall of Western Connecticut State University. The program includes Sibelius’ Karelia Overture, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8, and an original work by award-winning young composer Scott A Miller II. All tickets are $15 and may be purchased online at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com or at the door.

The Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra consists of 95 students from 12 towns. Students may audition June 8, 9, and 10 at Scotts Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield. Auditions are by appointment, and may be made at wctyo.org.
