Woman’s Club makes, delivers holiday meals

Wilton Woman’s Club members made and delivered 32 holiday meals to Wilton residents last month.

Members made and donated items like ham, green beans, potatoes and cake, and dropped off the warm, homemade items at Ogden House on Saturday, Dec. 23.

There, members of the club and its Junior Leadership Program assembled all the items into meals, wrapped them with a bow and delivered them to homebound residents throughout town.

Making holiday meals for homebound residents is an annual tradition for the club.

“Many thanks to our club members for great participation, and the Wilton High School Girls Varsity Basketball team for coming and helping too,” said event chair Kim Horner.

“We even had an extra tray of mashed potatoes and green beans, and we donated those to MALTA, a women’s shelter in Norwalk.”

Club member and volunteer Camille Gilroy said she and her daughter, Caitlin, have been participating in the annual event for “many years.”

“We feel that giving back to our local community, especially at Christmas, truly defines the meaning of giving,” she said.

The Woman’s Club’s will hold its annual fund-raiser luncheon at Rolling Hills Country Club on Thursday, March 29, to benefit the Wilton Domestic Violence Task Force.
