Wiltonian directs Nunsense

Brian Feehan of Wilton is directing a performance of Nunsense, which opened this week at the Chapel at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 325 Park Avenue at 51st Street, in New York City.

Mr. Feehan is directing the St. Bart’s Players in the comedy by Dan Goggin that opened off-Broadway in 1985. The plot revolves around the efforts of five Little Sisters of Hoboken to organize a variety show to raise money for the burial of 52 fellow sisters who were killed in a cooking mishap.

Mr. Feehan has been is an award winning director, choreographer and writer for 30 years. He was named Best Director for The Lion in Winter at Dorset Theater Festival and Best Overall Production and Best Choreography for Cabaret at Interlakes Theater in Meredith, N.H. As resident director at Interlakes for five years, he directed and choreographed Summer Theatre at Meredith productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Chicago, Sound of Music and Carousel. For Bridgeport’s Polka Dot Playhouse he directed Annie Warbucks, Noises Off, and No, No Nanette.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Feehan began his career as an actor studying at the prestigious Goodman School of Drama and earning his MFA at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He was one of 30 professionals chosen to study at the Royal National Theatre in Great Britain under the tutelage of Sirs Ian McKellan, Anthony Hopkins and Alan Rickman.

A favorite with St. Bart’s Players and their audiences, Mr. Feehan’s first show with the troupe was the backstage farce, Lend Me a Tenor in 1996. Other musicals and plays he’s directed since then include: 1776, A Little Night Music, Follies, Moon Over Buffalo, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Forum and The Melody Lingers On: The Songs of Irving Berlin for the 75th Anniversary Season.

Upcoming performances of Nunsense at 8 p.m. are: Thursday, May 1, Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 3 and May 10. The performance Friday, May 2 is at 8:30. Matinees at 2 are Saturday, May 3 and May 10, and Sunday, May 11.
