Wilton teens honored by Circle of Friends

Six Wilton High School students — Joshua Bender, Ilisa Davison, Madeline Davison, Sydney Feldman, Mia Fung, and John Fung — will be among those honored by Circle of Friends of Fairfield County during its Evening of Recognition fund-raising dinner gala on June 5 at the Fairfield Theatre Company in Fairfield.

Circle of Friends is a nonsectarian, all-volunteer organization that reaches out to children, teens and adults with special needs, and involves them in a full array of inclusive social programs and weekly play dates.

This year, the Circle is honoring 156 teen volunteers for their work with children with special needs.

Of those volunteers, Joshua, Ilisa, Madeline, Sydney, Mia, and John are among 11 high school students from Wilton, Westport and Weston receiving special Fellowship Awards for their combined 3,000 “friendship hours.” Joshua and Ilisa are co-presidents of Circle of Friends of Wilton High School.

A video presentation called “The Power of Friendship,” produced especially for the gala, will be shown at the dinner, which will also feature a Chinese auction and a recognition/advertising journal to raise funds for the organization. Local and state dignitaries will be presenting the volunteers with their awards.

Concluding its 12th year, Circle of Friends, with its teen volunteers and their adult supervisors, is currently involved with more than 120 families in the area.
