Wilton musicians perform with youth orchestra

Wilton cellist Johnny Shiller and trombonist Jason Garrelick will join the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra when it presents its first concert of the season on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4, at the Ridgefield High School auditorium on North Salem Road.

The concert will feature performances by the WCYO Symphony Orchestra, String Ensemble and Wind Ensemble. Among the works to be performed are “Rock of Ages”, a suite of Irish songs, “The Lovers’ Waltz” by Jay Ungar and Molly Mason,  Grammy-winning composer Eric Whitacre’s “Seal Lullaby,” Mozart’s “Overture” to Don Giovanni, Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, and Dvorak’s American Suite.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and children under 12, and may be purchased at the door.

The Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra consists of 85 young musicians from 12 different towns. It’s next concert will be Sunday, March 8, at the Clune Center at Wilton High School.
