Walk for Animals in Distress, earn money for homeless animals

Animals in Distress is asking the community to help earn money for their rescue cats and kittens by walking with the ResQWalk app.

Animals in Distress' goal this week is to hit 125 miles and/or reach the top 10. The more people participating, the larger the portion of the donation pool the rescue's animals will receive. This week's donation pool is $2,350.

According to ResQWalk's website, in order for a rescue to receive donations from the weekly  pool, "its supporters simply need to check-in to the app when they go for a walk."

Each walker's distance is recorded in the user profile and added to their rescue of choice's weekly sum, according to ResQWalk. "At the end of the week, donations are paid out to the rescues proportionally to the total distance walked."

At the end of each walk, participants will be offered a reward that helps fund future donation pools when redeemed.

Animals in Distress encourages participants to take pictures if they go out waking this week — especially if they take their dogs with them.

"They deserve some credit too!" Animals in Distress wrote on Facebook.
