An exhibition featuring the  work of 30 artists from around the world born between 1946 and 1964 opens with a reception Saturday, April 30, noon to 6, at browngrotta arts, 276 Ridgefield Road. For Artboom: Celebrating Artists Mid-Century, Mid-Career, the artists were asked to submit work that reflects on where they have been and the path they plan to continue.

According to browngrotta, it is “work that illustrates influences, roads not taken or thoughts of legacy and the like.”

Jin-sook So took a look back by submitting part of a bowl-themed series inspired by her mother, a Buddhist, who blessed a bowl of water each morning. “Grethe Wittrock’s work is influenced by her ancient seafaring ancestors and how their lives aligned with those of migrating birds, both relying on the natural elements of survival.”

Others look to the future, like Lewis Knauss, who has given up a measure of control to chaos and “the beauty of disaster.”
