Touch a truck and more

Trucks big and small will drive into Wilton’s fourth Annual Touch-A-Truck Community Event  Saturday, Sept. 13, from 11 to 3, at Middlebrook School, 131 School Road.

Presented by The Children’s Day School of Wilton, there will be pony rides, “Roaming Railroad,” a bouncy house, face painting, concessions, musical entertainment by Music for Children and the Darst Trio Band. And, lots of trucks. It all takes place, rain or shine.

Visitors will be able to sit, climb and explore many types of trucks and other types of vehicles. Silent hour is from 11 to noon, when there will be no horns honking.

“We are excited to welcome back many trucks from last year and we have a few new surprises,” said Lisa Mannix, co-chair of the event. “Children of all ages will be lining up at the Monster Mobile Arcade, an interactive game truck. The Beardsley Zoo will also be joining the festivities with their Zoomobile, introducing children to reptiles and lizards.”

A “Decorate a Truck” coloring contest for children ages 2 to 6 will be sponsored by Peachwave Frozen Yogurt, 142 Old Ridgefield Road. Submissions should be dropped off by Sept. 5. The most creatively colored truck will be awarded a gift certificate to Peachwave.

Premier sponsors include Aggreko, ASML, Cannondale Generators, CT Lawn and Landscape, Dagny’s Real Estate, News 12 Connecticut, and The Village Market.

Admission is $30 per family. Advance tickets may be purchased for a discounted rate of $25 at Peachwave on Aug. 21, Sept. 2 and Sept. 9.
