The Philadelphia Story on the Wilton stage

Comedy will open the Wilton Playshop’s 79th season when the curtain rises on The Philadelphia Story Friday, Nov. 4. The play will continue through Nov. 19.

Directed by Al Recchia, this 1939 Broadway hit that starred Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart features a talented cast from across Fairfield County.  

The Philadelphia Story follows socialite Tracy Lord as she prepares to marry for the second time. With lingering feelings for her first husband and a budding interest in a society reporter, Tracy finds herself with three potential grooms on the morning of her wedding.

Performances will take place at 8 p.m. on Nov. 4, 5, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19. Matinées at 2 will take place Nov. 6 and 13.

Tickets are $25/adults, $20/seniors and students. Thrifty Thursdays offer a $5 discount.
