The Wilton Playshop will hold auditions for Philip Barry’s The Philadelphia Story, directed by Al Recchia, on Monday, Sept. 12, and Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. The show will run Nov. 4–19.
This comic play tells the story of Philadelphia socialite Tracy Lord who, acrimoniously divorced from her first husband, CK Dexter Haven, prepares to marry solid, stolid George Kittredge. Dexter, still in love with Tracy, enlists the help of prickly journalist Macaulay “Mike” Connor and his photographer, Elizabeth “Liz” Imbrie.
Posing as cousins and intent on scooping the wedding of the year, the pair gate-crashes the ceremony. Amiable chaos ensues with the wit rising like champagne bubbles as Tracy finds herself with not one, but three potential bridegrooms on the morning of her wedding.
