Party previews artisan show
The Wilton Historical Society is offering the community the opportunity to get a jump on holiday shopping — and enjoy a party, too — with its annual American Artisan Show Preview Party. It’s on Friday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 9 at the society’s museum complex at 224 Danbury Road.
With 40 diverse artisans from around the country, the show highlights arts, crafts and designs that have been part of fine American handwork since the 18th and 19th Centuries. Shaker-style furniture, pottery, glass, kitchen wares, Nantucket-style baskets, hand-woven scarves, quilts, rugs, floorcloths, art, tavern signs, soap, jewelry, and cutting boards are among the offerings.
A silent auction will feature pieces contributed by the artisans and other generous friends. While perusing the auction items, guests may enjoy hors d’oeuvres prepared by Tim LaBant’s Schoolhouse Restaurant.
“All proceeds will directly benefit the historical society and its efforts to preserve Wilton’s history” said E. Bulkeley Griswold, president of the Board of Trustees. The Preview Party Committee is chaired by Moira Craw, and society trustees Meaghan Donovan and Nancy Perez.
Tickets to the Nov. 3 gala are $100 for members and $125 for non-members. They may be purchased on the American Artisan Show page at wiltonhistorical.org or by calling 203-762-7257.
