Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to participate in a festive workshop on Saturday, Dec. 15, where they will create shiny mercury glass votive candle holders with paint and water. It takes place from 11 to 12:30 at Wilton Historical Society, 224 Danbury Road.
While decorating their votives, museum educator Lola Chen will explain the origins of mercury glass, which was originally created as a replacement for sterling silver, and contains neither silver nor mercury.
The children’s second project will be to make their own snack — fruit dipped in white chocolate, decorated with silver dragees.
The cost for members is $10 per child, $25 per family, for non-members, $15 per child, $35 per family. Register: info@wiltonhistorical.org or call 203-762-7257.
