Men can make wreaths

Making holiday wreaths isn’t just for women anymore.

Woodcock Nature Center’s annual Wreath Fest, long known for its multiple Ladies’ Nights, will offer something new next month — Not Just Ladies’ Night.

Husbands and wives, groups of friends, as long as everyone is over 21, are welcome on Saturday, Dec. 5, with a choice of two sessions: 6:30 or 8:30 p.m. The pavilion will be open until 11 with a fire, as well as heaters, for socializing before or after making wreaths. Guests are welcome to bring their own beverages and snacks. As the Wreath Fest is a fundraiser, there will also be raffle items.

Tickets are $55 and may be purchased online at beginning Nov. 16 at 9 a.m. Each session can accommodate 50 people.

There are also eight Ladies’ Nights planned: Tuesday through Friday, Dec. 1-4 and Dec. 8-11. Reservations have closed, but any remaining tickets may be purchased on the nature center website.

There will also be an Open Family Day on Saturday, Dec. 12, from noon to 4. There is no advance registration for this event, guests pay when they arrive. There will be cookies and hot chocolate.

All ticket prices include wreaths, all natural decorating materials, and pre-tied bows.

The nature center has plenty of acorns, but is collecting pine cones, rose hips, sedum heads, sumac heads, and milkweed pods. They may be dropped off at the nature center any time before Thanksgiving.

Volunteers are also needed, and sponsorships are available.
