Library summer show calls for entries

Wilton Library’s 70th annual Wilton Artists Summer Show is just around the corner and the call for entries has been sent.

The Summer Show is a two-month long exhibition at the library in July and August that celebrates the talent of Wilton friends and neighbors. It will open with an artists’ reception on Friday, July 11, from 6 to 7:30 that will be open to the public.

Adult artists who are Wilton residents may submit up to two works of art in the categories of paintings, pastels, drawings or sculptures. The works will be accepted on Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28 at the library, from 10 to 4. The works should be framed and wired, ready for installation.  Additional information and downloadable forms may be found on the library’s website at and clicking on the “Call for Entries” in the news feed. Printed forms also are available at the circulation desk.

“This is a favorite show for Wilton and one that the community looks forward to each year,” said Ed MacEwen, art chairman for Wilton Library. “It’s always fun to welcome new talent to the exhibition as well as see artists return year after year.”

A majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. The exhibition runs through Friday, Aug. 29.

Wilton Library hours in July and August are Mondays and Thursdays 10 to 8, Fridays, 10 to 6, Saturdays 10 to 5, and closed on Sundays.
