Library concert features composer and friends

Wilton Library presents a Connecticut’s Own Concert on Sunday, April 29, from 3:30 to 4:30, featuring the works of Weston composer Joseph M. Russo performed by his friends. The name of the concert is aptly titled, Friendship Concert, because according to Russo, “I often compose music for friends and also because each performer is one of my good friends…most for many, many years.” The music to be performed will be a selection of woodwind compositions.

Featured musicians are Jennifer Berman and Celinda Anne Levno on flute, Bill Braun and Elizabeth Wain on piano, Jim Forgey on clarinet, Bob Hoyleon on French horn, Janet Rosen on oboe and English horn, and Sue Zoellner-Cross on bassoon.

Trained at Julliard and Yale, Russo has composed numerous chamber and orchestra works that have received commissions or premieres nationwide and in Europe. In the fall of 2017, he was offered a commission to compose music for the newly formed Connecticut Flute Choir. Samples of his compositions may be heard at
