Kiwanis ready to dish up the flapjacks
Remember those stacks of pancakes loaded with butter and syrup with sausages on the side? Remember the endless cups of steaming hot coffee you used to wash them down? Well, they will be back on the table Monday, May 30, as the Kiwanis Club of Wilton puts on its 37th annual pancake breakfast. As always, the event will be held at the Wilton Congregational Church, 70 Ridgefield Road. The hours are 8 to 10:30 and the cost will remain at $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
Kiwanis members Fred Wernig, Dan Mahoney and Bob Tortorella are this year’s co-chairs for the breakfast and are already in the process of putting together the workforce needed to man the many duties involved: mixing the batter, flipping the pancakes, keeping the sausages and the coffee coming, and of course, the busing of the tables. Many hands are needed to keep the plates and cups full.
It’s a perfect way to begin the festivities of the day, have your breakfast, walk out the door and wait for the parade to pass by; and, as always, Kiwanis and the parade committee are hoping for a beautiful day to help honor all our veterans, both living and deceased. Come on out and join us, and bring your family and friends!
