Katharine S. Welling weds Jason M. Cantrell

Katharine Story Welling and Jason Michael Cantrell were married at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wilton at 4:30 on Saturday, July 11. The Rev. Mary Grace Williams officiated, assisted by the Rev. Richard Mayberry and Rodney Ayers, director of music. A reception followed at the bride’s home.
The bride is the daughter of Katharine and Curtis Welling of Millstone Road. The groom is the son of Terry and Norman Cantrell of Phoenix, Ariz.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown of ivory Alençon lace, custom designed by Marysia Nystrom of Fleur-Isabelle, and carried a bouquet of white garden roses, freesia, lisianthus, and clematis.
Dr. Carol Carrillo, the bride’s college roommate, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dr. Sarah Valkenburgh Tsiaras and Chelsea Mills, cousins of the bride; Carrie Cantrell, sister of the groom; childhood friends Rebecca Brock Dixon and Katherine Harleman; as well as New York City friends Kylie Cobb and Danielle Drimer.
Luke Tsiaras and Eva Dixon, godchildren of the bride, were the ring bearer and flower girl, respectively.
The groom was attended by best man Charles Case, a childhood friend; Alexander Welling, brother of the bride; as well as Jason Adams, David Clarken, Gregory Glover, Eric Hunsinger and Dennis Lasko.
The bride graduated from Greens Farms Academy, Vanderbilt University, and received her master’s of social work from Columbia University. She is employed by New Alternatives for Children in New York City and places medically fragile foster care children in permanent homes.
The groom graduated from Arizona State University and received his master’s of business administration from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College. He is director of institutional equity sales with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in New York City.
After a honeymoon in Italy, the couple will reside in New York City.
