Isabella Palacpac performs at the Ives

In November, Isabella Palacpac won the 12th annual Danbury Symphony Orchestra Student Concerto Competition and a solo performance with the Danbury Symphony Orchestra.

Isabella, a cellist and 11th grader at Wilton High School, will perform in the annual Young People’s Concert on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Ives Concert Hall in Danbury.

Danbury Music Centre will host the hour-long musical performance.

Isabella will be the 3 p.m. concert’s special guest artist  and will perform the first movement of the Lao Concerto for Cello and Orchestra.

Ariel Rudiakov, music director and conductor of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra, will conduct the concert.

The concert will include music written especially, but not exclusively, for children, such as the Peer Gynt Suite, The March of the Little Toy Soldiers and Children’s Games.

The Danbury Symphony Orchestra Student Concerto Competition wasn’t the only competition Isabella has won.

She won first place at the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s 2013 Young Artist Competition, the 2011 New York Music Competition and the University of Connecticut’s 2011 Cello Festival.

Isabella has studied at the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Program and made the December high honor roll  at Wilton High School.
