The Helium Brothers band will join with Washboard Slim and The Bluelights in a rare double bill on Saturday, June 24, 8 p.m., at the Spaceland Ballroom for an evening of music spanning multiple eras, genres, and styles. The Helium sound, forged in New Haven during the baby boomer college era, is an eclectic blend of traditional and avant-garde bluegrass, jazzy country swing, and the California acoustic/singer-songwriter pop-rock of the 70s. Washboard Slim and the Bluelights is one of the country’s original of jug bands. Helium Brothers band members include A.J. Gundell of Wilton, in front at right. The Spaceland Ballroom is at 295 Treadwell Street in Hamden. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door: theouterspace.net. Information: 203-288-6400.
